Mar. 31, 2018 - Mr Naushad A Ansari of JSPL discusses how it plans to work towards increasing its production to optimum realisation. He told “Angul capacity today is 5 million tonnes of steel making. Blast furnace is only one of the inputs which goes into making the steel, the other being the DRI. Hence, out of 5 million, we expect that close to about 80 per cent of that capacity will be achieved, may be in another four to five months. Also, compared to what we were producing in December, in the month of March the production has gone up by close to about 70 per cent. We are quite satisfied with that and plants like this obviously take about six-seven months to ramp up.”
Mr Naushad indicates that the capacity is 8.6 million out of which 3.6 million is in Raigarh. Raigarh is operating close to about 95 per cent and in the coming year we are pushing it close to about may be 98 per cent or so. As far as Angul is concerned, out of 5 million tonne capacity, 3.5 million has been added up by end of December-early January. Hence, going forward in the year of 2019, in India alone, we expect to make a little over 7 million tonnes and in Oman we expect to make another 2 million tonnes. Therefore, altogether we expect to make close to about 9 million tonnes in FY19.
